Intoroduction

日本の原風景「里山」がここにある

There is “Satoyama” (an undeveloped woodland area near a village), an archetypal scene of Japan.

Kafutei is a hidden inn in a woodland area. We are located at Kikuka Town, Yamaga City which is in the northern part of Kumatomo. You can see a panoramic landscape of a rural area and quiet woodland, which is an archetypal scene of Japan. There are natural hot springs that have been loved by people in the village for 1300 years. With its endlessly overflowing hot water, they heal you. Please feel time that passes by so slowly and the goodness of not having a thing during your trip.

Kikuka Onsen: smooth hot springs

Hot springs that have about 1300 years of history

Kafutei’s hot springs are natural hot springs that have smooth spring quality. It is said that they have about 1300 years of history and supply ample quantity of hot water. Hot springs whose medical benefits are neuralgia, joint pains, recovering from exhaustion and so on have been loved by people in the village for a long time. Quiet Kikuka Onsen surrounded by a rural area is still loved by many people. In the inn, we have big baths separated by gender, open-air baths and saunas. Original Kaiseki cuisine that you can feel Kumamoto’s season

For dinner, please have an original Kaiseki cuisine for the season. We use seasonal vegetables and edible wild plants that are harvested in the woodland and river fishes as the main ingredients. There is any elaborate dish but you will simply think it’s delicious.

Breakfast

Simple Breakfast of the woodland.

We serve simple dishes such as a local tofu shop’s tofu, pickles, a side dish served in a small bowl, boiled fish, rolled omelette that use eggs from a local chickenyard, a grated yam, miso soup with deep-fried tofu that is made in Nankan Town and so on. The rice is taken at the rice paddy. We serve it freshly boiled. It matches very well with an egg whose yolk rises. Please eat them to your heart’s content.
